It's okay. It's just a bit inconsistent, and by a bit I mean a lot, and it just feels awkward and not finished to me. A lot of Elvis costello's stuff sounds awkward. Idk that is just the best word to describe it where I'm concerned.

And "This Years model" is way WAAAAY better than this.

OOOH, absolutely amazing! His best IMO. Incredible pop record, very short, goes straight to the point. I think it's extremely clever, extremely well executed, and Costello is just one of the coolest guys on the planet. I was going to pick some favorite tracks, but there are just too many. So yeah, I kinda like this record.

Edit : don't listen to Mercury, he's a liar anyway Razz This album is the definition of consistent!

I think my hilight is Less Than Zero, but on a side point I want to say that Brett Easton Ellis' best book is Rules Of Attraction.

You've probably already heard it, but you should check out Imperial Bedroom. There is no way you could possibly describe that album as awkward or unfinished.

Agreed. Honestly after making that comment I decided to give Costello more listens. It's been years since I listened to his music intensively. I will give this another listen too as well as his debut.

"Armed Forces" I recall being quite good too.

He was pretty untouchable for those first six or seven years (I even fuck with Almost Blue these days).

Dope. I think I prefer the two that came after, but this one's still pretty tasty.

Finally an album of the day I know! Honestly the only Costello I've heard so far, but it makes me want to find more. Just an awesomely energetic record, I love his almost-spitting delivery. Gotta say it's pretty consistent, though a couple songs stand out none of them make me want to skip.

Best? Welcome to the Working Week, Less than Zero, Watching the Detectives (not sure what's usually done with this today but I have an old LP where it's track 7, ending side 1) and of course Alison.
