Hey, guys. I have some stuff to talk about.

First, I'm a big fan of the Cure, and one thing that bothers me about them is how the critics feel about them. It seems like critics vastly underappreciate the Cure. For example, Seventeen Seconds, Faith & Pornography received mixed to negative reviews back in the day. Additionally, NONE of the Cure's albums got a 5-star score on Allmusic. Not even Pornography & Disintegration(both of which DEFINITELY deserve a 5-star score, especially Disintegration). Also, the Cure is not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. WTF? How can a great band like the Cure not be in the R & R Hall of Fame? It seems like the critics don't care for the Cure, and never give them the respect that they deserve.

Furthermore, what makes things worse is that Green Day & Blink 182, of all bands, have received better reviews than the Cure from critics. Surprised What the hell?

Overall, does anybody know why this happens? Why is it that timeless classics such as Seventeen Seconds & Faith receive average to poor reviews, and Green Day & Blink 182 get better reviews by the Cure?

I'd give Pornography and Faith five stars any day...think I have. XD Sadly I'm not Allmusic. I'd give Seventeen Seconds like 4.5.

RNG lol.

Allmusic gave Springsteen's first two album, The River, and Born in the USA 5 stars and gave Darkness on the Edge of Town 4.5 stars. I'm not sure why you're putting any stock in it.

Also, as others have said, I'm not sure why you care.

I think he's just flipping out about how great The Cure are and wants to gush about it, he's just doing it by wondering why Allmusic is dumb, let's just praise The Cure with him. XD

Good point. I just care because Seventeen Seconds, Faith & Pornography are timeless classics, in my opinion. I find it kind of strange why Allmusic & other critics gave those mixed to poor reviews.

Also, the fact that Green Day & Blink 182 got better reviews than the Cure is just sad. Critics are dumb, I guess.

The Cure is a great band, though. Sorry if I come off as a fanboy in this topic.

Yeeeeaaaahhh I'm not a huge fan of the cure. They are pretty good though.

Faith deserves 4.5, maybe, but its a 4 to me. Disintegration deserves 3.5 to 4 in my book.

And those are the only ones I've heard in full.

The Tallest Man On Earth on the other hand, OH MY GOSH! They gave Shallow Grave, still great but my least fave album of his, 4.5 while giving THE WILD HUNT 4 and There's No Leaving Now 3.5 (wtf!?!).

Fuck allmusic! Not really because I do generally like that site, but still I think we all have some beef with any review site on one of our favorite artists or bands.

I mean, it's cool that you like those albums, but you can't expect those opinions to be universal. It's not like they're The Beatles or Bob Dylan. The Cure is a popular band, but not that many critics would call them legendary. That's just the popular opinion.

And I'm not sure what you're going on about with Green Day and Blink-182. The Cure received four 4.5 star ratings from Allmusic, Green Day received two and one 5 star rating (which is American Idiot, so I wouldn't take that particular review that seriously). Blink-182 got one 4.5 star rating and no 5 star ratings.

And no, just because critics disagree with you doesn't make them dumb.

Also, I'm pretty sure Allmusic rates by genres. Green Day and Blink 182 are pretty much the pinnacle of pop-punk, so will get good ratings, whilst the Cure aren't really the absolute best of post-punk.
