Personally, I've never cared for grunge that much, and this is just an album with some very good songs, as well as some more forgettable tracks. It's good, not great.

Track picks
2. Even Flow
6. Jeremy
9. Garden
11. Release

I Like this album, it is in my overall, not the best of grunge, but is one of those who marked that era.
Even flow is my favorite, but once is also amazing.

No but seriously. It is better. Better songs. Better vocals. Less noisy pseudo punk shit. Better. It flows better. Just better.

Huh. To each his own.

Anyway, as for the album, it's alright. It was a big album in my formative music-listening years, but I can't really sit through it these days. "Black" and "Jeremy" are still mad dope.

A revelation for record companies, but not so much for me. It's U2 with a growl. Cobain was wrong to let up on his criticism of the band -- whatever Pearl Jam meant to be, their legacy was naught but tragic for the rest of us.
