Far and away his best album. Unlike Thriller, which is really just a bunch of singles thrown together, this actually works as an album. "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough" is easily one of the greatest side 1/track 1's of all time and I would rate it up there as one of those songs that is just perfect. "She's Out of My Life" is a great ballad and ranks as one of Jackson's best vocal performances. This is also the only Jackson album I enjoy every time I listen to it. There's no filler and it lacks the chasm in quality between the great tracks and weak tracks that Thriller and Bad have.

I'd say it's about as good as Thriller, i.e. great. That said, take the best songs from the two and put them on a single disc and you have a stunning record.

I've always underrated this album when it comes to reviewing Michaels work. Possibly because I've never really considered it a part of Michaels "great stride" - beginning with thriller, and ending with History. That is, until I noticed how high it was on his list. I suppose I'll just have to dust it off and listen to it again...

A really solidly consistent album from MJ, though there aren't any standouts on the same level as the singles from Bad or Thriller, in my opinion. Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough is still great, as are the other hits from this album, I just don't find myself coming back for individual tracks as much as the two records that followed. The album is still a bit steeped in disco and lacks the sonic originality and variety found on Jackson's following two albums, though the ballad "She's Out of My Life" and the Stevie Wonder-penned "I Can't Help It" do mix things up slightly. Regardless, it's still an excellent record and probably one of the only albums of its genre that's truly worth hearing straight through.
