It's in a different league to Crooked Rain, but it's still pretty good.

Basically it's really cool maybe even down right great (need to relisten) and it just has a super badass, cool and rebellious I don't give a fuck attitude and vibe. This stuff just drips with coolness, also lots of great ideas and songs and melodies and lyrics and its just all over the place and ugly in all the good ways.

Still, last I was into them several years back I remember liking Crooked Rain considerably more. But there ya go.

Edit: also that goddamn cover is truly one of the best and memorable covers I've ever seen! So great!

Pavement is great. This album is great. I never understood how Pavement was recognized, but Mudhoney gets ignored. To me, Mudhoney is almost as deserving of recognition.

my pick as the best album of all time. I get the crooked rain is a better album argument but for me that's just a great album by a band at the very top of their game.

This one has something different, it takes more risks yet I've never been able to quite put my finger on as to why i regard it so highly....it might be something as simple as the drum sound which is great, who knows? What i can say is I've never got tired of it since the day it came out and love the way it never sits still and make no mistake there are plenty of Pavement's very best songs on show.
