Summary Info: The debut studio album of English post-punk band, The Pop Group. With a band name steeped in irony, The Pop Group is known for dabbling in concepts from punk, free jazz, and dub reggae. The band was short-lived, releasing only two studio albums before breaking up in 1981.

No comments, huh?

I like the way this album combines free jazz and post-punk ideas to create a primitive collage of sorts. Although vaguely cathartic, it does get hokey at times (see "Bloody Money") and I'm not convinced that the band is reaching as deeply into the id as we're meant to think. Still worth a listen or several, though.

Ah, I was going to post earlier but didn't get around to it. Anyways, I adore this album and think it's one of the best post-punk albums of it's kind. Feels somewhere between Pere Ubu and This Heat stylistically, but of course they've got their own thing going. It's a really entertaining album though, Thief Of Fire always gets me in the perfect mindset to hear it. Might relisten to it at some point tonight, it's been a while.

Never heard of The Pop Group or this album before... Listened to it yesterday. The album is excellent; although not easy to listen in certain parts, it does flow. In many respects it is way ahead of its time.

A really good album, but if I'm honest with myself, For How Much Longer Do We Tolerate Mass Murder? does a lot more for me. Still definitely wish they had more material from what they've released, as they were clearly onto something great. Isn't there a rumor year after year of them making a third album? One can hope.

I remember the first time I heard this record, it was like a bad acid trip. I hadn't really heard anything quite like it. I've grown to really like this album, but it's also pretty nightmarish.
