Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 4% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.8/100, a mean average of 75.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.2.

It was time for me to talk about Ra who is, in my opinion, the god of music, the greatest jazzman in history and the most original artist of all time. During his life on Earth, Saturnian Sun Ra has created pioneering sounds that have helped change not only the sound of jazz, but many other genres as well. Sun Ra would take a jazz listener to New Orleans in rhythms. His spatial sounds helped to create the experimental music known as psychedelic and its derivative of the 70s, space rock. With Atlantis, Sun Ra shows both sides of his personality, offering smaller cut sides and a long, solid jam that has defined the sound of the jazz space. Atlantis is the first album of Sun Ra 'and probably also the first jazz record to present the brand new clavinet. His style changes give an introspective view of the direction taken by Sun Ra with musical ideas. By combining the catalog of Sun Ra, many discs contain so unique and original sounds that it is almost impossible to choose a favorite based solely on his ideas. Atlantis is not only one of Ra's most eclectic albums, but overall, it's one of his best.

Best track: "Yucatan"
If I ever get killed by a synth that came to life, it might sound something like this
hehehe... I think it had some potential. Interesting sounds and all, but lack of form - a little too free form for my taste. Some of the title track was, how much of the keyboard can I mash at once... curious with stuff like this... can they really perform it just like that again... is it total free form... hahaha.
thank god it sunk
sounds like a funky swamp thing lurking; progressively the swamp thing is agitated; it spits venom when rises from the black waters on the title track
