Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 9% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.9/100, a mean average of 74.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.4.

Enjoyed it, and my favourite two tracks were the two 9-minute tracks - I especially liked the instrumental parts at the end of the songs. Classic rock with plenty of horns, reminiscent of The Rolling Stones.

Really liked this album a lot—I've got the American version, not the original Dutch version, so it replaces Suzy Lunacy and Just Like Vince Taylor with the nice long, jazzy tune Big Tree Blue Sea. Anyway, I already knew Radar Love was a classic, but the remaining tracks (Candy's Going Bad, The Vanilla Queen, Are You Receiving Me) are also all excellent showcases of proggy, hard-rocking goodness. Will be revisiting this one for sure.

This has aged pretty poorly. No one my age even knows what the hell Radar Love means. No one my age knows who Vince Taylor is. Surprisingly, the two 9-minute tracks are the best on here, because the group's instrumental chemistry is palpable. The guitarist is actually great, wish he had more time to solo.

Starts off strong but moves into prolonged instrumental sequences.

Apart from the brilliant and well known Radar Love, this album also has the equally exceptional Candy's Going Bad, and the even better masterpiece Vanilla Queen. A very underrated album.

This is certainly Golden Earring at their peak. Production levels had lifted, classic tracks such as Radar Love, The Vanilla Queen and Candy's Going Bad. The international version is slightly better than the European version - with the inclusion of a revamped and improved Big Tree Blue Sea in place of the equally cool Just Like Vince Taylor and the only weak track, Suzy Lunacy.
