I have listened to almost all of the versions of these great songs from Lucia Popp to Renee Fleming and Janowitz' version is the standout..I listen to it all the time. I bought it in 1974 when it was released. Really turned me on to R. Strauss and the Berlin Philharmonic. David Lynch used Im Abendrot at the beginning of "wild at heart" the intro to "im abendrot" is so famous and so beautiful that it is worth buying this CD just to hear the 1 minute long intro.
