Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.7/100, a mean average of 72.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 9.6.

I really like this album. Never really a dull moment, but the 1-2-3 punch of Tasmania-The boys...-Hand mouth dancer really drives it home for me. the second half is pretty consistently good too. Pond needs a better marketing team, I liked The Weather in 2017 too.
Prince-esque in places. Not terrible but not great either.
Starts out a bit sporadic but soon after the title track it gains momentum and leaves me with a good vibe. I was drawn by the album art which is great. I didn't know they were roots to Kevin Parker. Really cool
Some awesome bass work here. Clear influence from Tame Impala's Currents.
Daisy is phenomenal
Perhaps a little too subdued for what I was expecting. I love when Pond go full blown out, but still, it's a great change of direction for them. It's a quieter synth release and I dig that, but I need to think about this a little bit longer. I suspect this will be a grower for me. Right now I have mixed feelings about certain songs and would love to listen to this again. Is this better than The Weather? Absolutely, as it is far more consistent. The Weather had, in my opinion, many 'not-so-good' songs, and while Tasmania hasn't finished clicking with me, it keeps up the tone during its full length. My favorite songs on first listen are "Daisy", "Sixteen Days", "Selené" and "Doctor's In". [This was edited from a Reddit comment I made]
