Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 63.0/100, a mean average of 62.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 62.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 24.6.

In the '90s I might've given it an 8/10 with a healthy dose of shame, but after having experienced the '00s, I have no doubt this ripple caused a tidal wave. The pop dilutes the country into something that is digestible for non-American listeners too, but that's not to say I like it despite the country influences; rather, the combination seems to create something new. It's a good example of how mixing genres should go: unnoticed.
My old girlfriend loved this album. I'm not sure why...
Very pleasant, straight-forward country. A little poppy, but not overly saccarine. Natalie Maines is a great female lead. Much better than most of the commercial dreck, but nothing groundbreaking.
The Dixie Chicks are great at what they do. Their songs are produced very well, Natalie Maines' vocals sound great, and they choose good songs to cover for their albums. I don't mind listening to them at all, but for me, I never REALLY want to listen to the Dixie Chicks.
Solid effort. Highlights: "Wide Open Spaces", "There's Your Trouble", "Am I The Only One (Who's Ever Felt This Way)".
Wow this album is straight up garbage. Awful.
