Shortlisted for album of the year at the 1979 Grammys. The winner was another soundtrack, also starring John Travolta, Saturday Night Fever (Various Artists)
Very nostalgic. Who never saw Grease back in the day? Ahhh, the memories. It's very cheesy. But cheese isn't bad every now and then.
This double album is a story of 2 (or maybe 3) parts. First, 12 tracks 1-8,20-22,24 are the ones you primarily want. And if I rated it on just those, it would be like 8.5/10. Then there's the Sha Na Na songs which are mostly adequate covers of classic songs. Then there's all the "background" tracks, which are mostly held over from the musical. Factoring all these in brings the overall rating down a bit. Not that there's anything bad here, but the musical numbers from the movie are what really stand out.

Un buen soundtrack que es afectado por bastante canciones de relleno que, si bien no son malas, en mi opinión no aportan nada a la experiencia general y solo alargan innecesariamente el mismo.
C'mon what's not to like. Classic stuff!
so according to Spotify's Year in Review thing this is one my most listened to albums of the year lmao
While the movie has been overplayed on television and the songs are almost cliche at the point, there's still a charm to it. The middle of the album suffers a bit with all the Sha Na Na tracks that are inferior to the 50s originals (similar to how the Saturday Night Fever album hits a rough patch midway) but the highs outweigh the lows.
