Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.7/100, a mean average of 77.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.9.

Freddie Gibbs and Madlib fit together so perfectly. This album is very good without any standout track.

Lacks the impact of Pinata. That's not an insult to Bandana; more of a statement of how good Pinata was.

Madlib is a production legend and continues to show off his skills on this album. As a lyricist, Freddie Gibbs is an impressive rapper but his voice or his character lacks something. The music doesn't resonate with me as much as other projects. I couldn't really find a song that I loved. It's not a bad album by any means, it just didn't mean that much to me.

Rap is clearly today's pop. Sometimes it's time to stop listening to Future, Travis Scott and Cardi B, who dominate streaming platforms and listen to the songs of more demanding rap artists such as Freddie Gangsta Gibbs and producer Madlib. "Bandana" is the second album of their trilogy started with "Piñata" in 2014 which is considered a hip-hop classic. The formula has been improved: Gibbs' prosody is more inventive than ever, his rhymes kicks with humor, bravado and political awareness, while veteran Madlib shines as in the 2000s with "Jaylib" and "Madvillain". I want say that "Bandana" is one of the best albums of the year (probably the best), and I think it deserves its place among the best rap albums of the 2010's. Madlib and Gibbs have clearly designed the perfect project, proving to what point they complement each other very well.
