Black aka Colin Vearncombe released this album in 1987 after the world wide success of the song Wonderful Life. That song and the closing song Sweetest Smile are the "slow" songs on this album and the biggest hits but the rest of the album is good with songs full of irony and melancholy.

Two excellent singles, a great voice and overall good songs. However, most of the album is a bland 80s soup of sound, especially the lesser tracks. An extra track on the version I heard called Revel in the Rain should have been what they went for sound wise on some of the tracks, jazzy. Good track too.
I always considered this a melancholy album. I still have the original tape which was very much played through the late eighties. So sad this guy died young following serious injuries from a car accident.
Front loaded with "the good stuff". Tails off a bit towards the end of the album but a decent album overall.
