This is pretty decent music but never really goes past that and I think there is quite a lot of room where they could have experimented a bit more. They found a structure that worked on every song and stuck to it throughout so that by the end of the album you do get quite bored due to its repetitive nature. It is quite a front loaded release as well with all the best songs coming right at the beginning and then the quality slowly drifts off up until the close of the record. Despite this, it is very upbeat and easy to have fun while listening. It also sounds very clean and not dated considering the time it came out. The vocalist is fantastic as well and really boosts this album up for me. Overall, this is just a good record that isn't striving for anything more but is definitely worth a listen for the few songs that are great.
Decent album, but still not what we were hoping for
I understand why it was done, but I miss the presence of Peace Train which was removed for political reasons. In any case, it is still a great record and still sounds good.
Stands the test of time. Still an excellent album
Not a big 10,000 maniacs fan but this album is solid.
Beautiful voice. An upbeat pleasant album. Middle of the road stuff though.

She has a great voice. But the overall album is pretty average/boring.

The album that introduced me to so many things. Folk music & great literature by Beat Generation.
Not as well received as it deserved. Great music, great lyrics and Merchant's unique delivery make it a classic.
