They still sounded a bit too much like Soft Machine and their music suffered from the same occasional lack of focus or purpose (my feeling, of course). Having said that, their eclectic exploratory approach is impressive and some moments of greatness do arise from their sophisticated noodling (like that Pharoah Sanders-esque cathartic beginning of Teenbeat and the guitar solo in Teenbeat Reprise).
