Richard "Lord" Buckley was a comedian, not a musician, who died 9 years before this album was released. The (spoken-word) performances on the album were probably recorded during the mid-1950s Beatnik Era and were compiled by Frank Zappa in 1969, presumably during a break between recording "Uncle Meat" and "Hot Rats." There's no live audience, and since the comedy is based more in Buckley's delivery and behavior than in any actual jokes, the listening experience is a little off-putting. It seems unlikely that a record like this could be released today (unless Taylor Swift were somehow involved), but back in the 1960s comedy albums were a fairly common thing, since people didn't have home video playback technology and also apparently had much better drugs.
