With a recording career as extensive as Mahalia Jackson's, it is a disservice to her memory to label this 10 track budget album as "Mahalia Jackson's Greatest Hits" but that is exactly what Columbia Records did in 1963 (Cat#: CS 8804). The scant track listing leaves so much to be desired. The edition this writer has on hand is the CD version re-issue (Cat#: CK 37710). One gets the sense of the power of her voice and her indomitable spirit, as well as her religious devotion, but her catalog is so extensive that one wishes there were more tracks included. Authenticated on discogs.com
