Released in 1969 by Motown Records subsidiary Tamla as (Cat#: TAM M 300), this 16 track compilation was pressed before Gaye demonstrated his independence from the Motown Machine in crafting masterpiece albums like "What's Going On" and "Let's Get It On". SO the tracks here feature pre-70s tunes penned by the usual suspects in the Motown machine - Holland-Dozier-Holland, Smokey Robinson, Whitfield-Strong, etc. Marvin is in great voice and thereare some classic performances captured here.
