In 2012 this was the best new soul album by a male artist I had heard in a long time. Too many artists are chiefly remembered for their earliest work as being the most representative and original.
In this case the good releases continued to come, making it Home Again the start of a great career. All 10 songs are beautifully written and excellently performed, so it is consistently one of the best albums of its time.
A good and honest record of modern soul.
Kiwanuka brings a refreshing and retro blues sound to 2012.
