another great album...just saw him in NYC...PHENOMENAL, "THAT DANGEROUS AGE","PAPERCHASE" and "AROUND THE LAKE" ARE FAVS... The deluxe edition has a song called "DEVOTION" which is the best song i've heard ALL YEAR ! an acoustic,folk gem

Paul Weller can make great albums, let's get that out of the way. This isn't one of them. It's certainly serviceable, and there are strong moments, but there's not enough of the strong songwriting that graced his last "experimental" effort (22 Dreams). Still enjoyable but not up to his usual standard. (Edited)

Paul Weller’s 11th album sees him develop the experimental side of his music further, following his previous foray 2 years earlier. There are conventional song structures here but enough in the way of off-kilter tracks to make this an interesting listen.
Rating: Very Good
Best track: When Your Garden’s Overgrown
