Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 3% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.0/100, a mean average of 76.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.8.

While in previous albums they had been playing around mostly with jazz-influenced music, due to Christian Vander's idolizing of John Coltrane, in this album they finally arrived at what would be a career and genre-defining piece of work.

With "Mekanïk Destruktïẁ Kommandöh we get everything: choral vocals ala Carls Orff, bombastic horn sections, great drumming and much more.

Un voyage musical sur la planète Kobaia. Original et brillant.

This album is weird but in a good and inventive way. Just like magma rolling down the volcano hillsides to the villages below, destructive Kömmandöh.

The vocals of Neber Gudhatt sound like they were recorded by Stanley Kubrick in all the torturing takes he took from Shelley Duvall screaming in The Shining

One of the greatest albums of all time in any category. Rock opera with an accent on the opera, as opposed to Tommy with the accent on the rock. Like all my favorite music, it is not easy listening, but it is rewarding and reveals itself over years and years.

Magma is the J.R.R. Tolkien of the music world. Sung completely in Christian Vander's contructed "Kobaian" language, K.M.D. tells the tale of Nebehr Güdahtt's prophecy of a doomed earth, a warning that the people of earth do not heed right away. The music is a dark, progressive march of piano, marimba, violins, trumpets and fuzzy guitars that provide a steel bedding for the harsh alien opera-style vocals. Definitely, a great work of art...whether it is a wholly enjoyable listen or not is another story.
