Two quality studio efforts in a row from a band now entering their fifth decade of existence. The airy production present on Evolve is unlike any other Phish record. There is a lot of depth here (and most importantly, only two absolute studio stinkers which always seem to populate even the best Phish albums).
The album's strongest tracks are primarily driven by a whole lot of space punctuated by wild-man polyrhythmic drum patterns courtesy of the band's namesake, Jon Fishman. Even Lonely Trip and Mercy (energy-sucking tunes in the live show environment where Phish thrive) are given beautiful, definitive treatment here. Well worth your time to listen to Life Saving Gun, Pillow Jets, A Wave of Hope, et al., even though fans will tell you not to waste your time with studio Phish.
Skip Ether Edge and the title track. They are limp as a wet noodle.

A lot of hard work happens in the background to keep BEA running, and it's especially difficult to do this when we can't pay our hosting fees :(
