Shortlisted for album of the year at the 2025 Grammys. The winner was Cowboy Carter by Beyonce
“Shortn’Sweet” is extremely breezy. It successfully plays with country and R&B elements but remains loyal to its ethos of lightness. It is charmingly stupid with some of its lyrics. Carpenter’s willingness to poke fun at herself adds a lot of personality. Despite this humor, some of the songs do venture into being generic. The latter half in particular is unremarkable. A little short of true success but show potential.

Fun and sexy. I'm surprised the critics rate it as mediocre, when, for me, it's not far off the best of Eilish, Polachek, Dua Lipa, and charli. Maybe it's too considered derivative, but I don't really care when "Espresso" and "Juno" sound so great.
