Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 8% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.3/100, a mean average of 73.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.3.

Tyler's greatest strength remains his story telling. Almost all of "Chromakopia"'s highlights come from its narrative moments. "Hey Jane" is moving in its exploration of an unexpected pregnancy from both perspectives. While the concept itself is rich, it's the detail and maturity that really makes it. Otherwise, the other elements feel passable. The flow is respectable but not infectious, instrumentals competent but not bold. The a cappella flourishes succeed and fail at about the same rate. Elevated but its thoughtfulness but not carried.

This is the first time of have been slightly disappointed by a Tyler album due to a lack of evolution of his sound, which mimics Flower Boy and CMIYGL but with diminishing returns. After the release of Sorry Not Sorry, I was expecting Tyler to really change things up. Despite lyrics inferring that he is done with hiding behind characters, it still feels like he is hiding behind familiar tricks. Most of the individual tracks are solid enough but I feel they don't quite come together to create something special in the way that FB and Igor did.

Really good, though I feel it's pretty similar to previous albums
