Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 68.0/100, a mean average of 67.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 67.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.2.

The Weeknd (HUT - CAN - Jan 25) - Hurry Up Tomorrow
31.01.2025
Billed has Abel Tesfaye's last album, it most certainly won't be bearing in mind his apparent shift to the screen and the soundtrack spin-offs that will inevitably follow.
However, if it is his last album, it's arguably his best outside of the mixtapes and 2020s 'After Hours'. I wasn't a fan of 'Dawn FM' but 'Hurry Up Tomorrow' is the sound of someone right back in form.
It's too long but just about gets away with it and maintains interest throughout.

An overall enjoyable album with a deep and immersive atmosphere. The seamless transitions are satisfying, but the long runtime can sometimes make it feel like a large soup of synths and reverb, with The Weeknd’s smooth, heartfelt vocals as its core.
Slightly glitchy electronica pops up in a couple of tracks, namely Wake Me Up and Open Hearts, adding a welcome texture to the dreamy soundscape. Features here and there provide a bit of extra flavor without taking over.
While it doesn’t always keep its momentum, Hurry Up Tomorrow remains a cohesive and well-crafted experience. (Edited)

Overly long album in my opinion without a lot of standeout tracks (Edited)
