Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 12% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.7/100, a mean average of 73.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.9.

For me this albums first half isn't that great but it gets better and has some outstanding tracks in the 2nd half , I feel it couldve been a very good 10 track album so it's a but long for my liking , blinded by the lights , after hours and save your tears are all brilliant plus the interlude with tame impala . I was gonna give this a 6 out of ten but it gets an extra point cos blinding lights is that good
It shines way too much to take me over the length, but this album has its highlights for sure.
When people look back in 20+ years, Blinding Lights will be remembered as the best pop-song of this decade, maybe the biggest song in the last 20 years. The title track is amazing as well.
Sonically pleasing and not disturbing at all!
I understand the ones who likes this type of music. but this is not for me.
thought it was a best album of 2020 by first listen, grew off me a lot
The most consistent album From The Weeknd so far
Good 80's arrangements and great hooks, i hope the weeknd continue the quality in his next projects and get rid of fillers, this album could have 10 songs with no problem
I don't know, I thought it was fine I guess. I like "Blinding Lights," but most of the album is just fairly forgettable. Probably more of a case of The Weeknd just not being my thing as opposed to it being not good.
"After Hours" is a spacey synthwave influenced album that that puts its singers voice at the forefront. The problem is I don't think the vocals are strong enough. They often descend it to overly produced synth distortion. This accompanying the long quiet passages just feels tedious. Thematically, I feel like the romanticization of its self destructive topics really prevent it from invoking any strong emotions. Powerlessness makes the tracks begin to blur together and lose identity. One positive thing is the title track has a very good beat.
