These songs are gorgeously produced and this album is insanely listenable, but this man is a goddamned clown.

Here's a verse on the album that I may have made up, but still feels less outrageous than most of what is on this record.

This is a beautiful album. For the first time in a while, I feel like Abel has found his rythym. Starboy was all over the place, and although there were some awesome tracks, the album didn’t feel like it flowed. There were different moods on each song, but there is something about After Hours that just seems perfect. Many people often joke that Abel makes the same-sounding songs, but I don’t see that on this album. They all feel different. Production is amazing and each song just goes perfect with one another. Heavy 80’s vibes. Elton John sampling on “scared to live” makes the song sound so great and emotional. Dazzling pop beats and instrumentals that just make you want to dance. Lyrics don’t disappoint, and I always love what Abel has to say and how he says it. Great synth on the interlude by Kevin Parker... no other person that fits a track on this album than the Tame Impala frontman. My favorite album of The Weeknd’s after house of balloons and I’m sure we will be talking about this for times to come.

He dabbles so much into '80s nostalgia that he almost rick-rolled us. The songs that don't sound like Tears For Fears B-sides sound like Trilogy B-sides. Why do so much artists see the start of the '20s as an incentive to go back to their roots? or is it just that they feel obliged to release something?
I'm really starting to get fed up with '80s nostalgia; it's high time for '90s nostalgia. Roll in the chronophobia and pessimistic escapism.

Weeknd fans are not gonna dislike this though, and even though I'm not a fan, I can't say I hate it.

Surprisingly good! And i've never really been a fan of The Weeknd before this, but this one juuuust hits the spot. Blinding Lights soars!

Due to the recent releases of the most mainstream of artists ,The Weeknd included, I had very low expectations going into this album. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this isn't a half baked record filled with, well, filler for lack of a better word but is actually is a fully-thought-out and impressive project that doesn't really waste a second of your time. Every song is crafted, intricately, to fit the aesthetic of the album while also remaining capable of mass appeal. They're not all amazing but none of them are bad which I was almost counting on.
