Willie tries to do a version of Wrecking Ball. He largely succeeds.
Utterly gorgeous record. Beautifully played with immaculate production. Nelson's disconsolate voice and lonesome keening guitar (once described as the most beautiful sound in the world) send a shiver down your spine. Each song is as good as the last.

Daniel Lanois, producer of all the classic U2 albums, plus some fine albums by Bob Dylan (Time out of Mind), Emmylou Harris (Wrecking Ball) and Peter Gabriel (So), took a shot at producing Willie Nelson, and it was a success. They took songs written by Willie in the 60's, and brought Emmylou in to sing along, and it sounds great. Maybe not quite the classic they were aiming for, but along with 1996's Spirit, it's as good as anything Willie recorded in the 80's or 90's.
