The fact that this gem isn't in the top 1000 on this site is a real crime. Willie is a treasure, and this is his most impactful work.

Willie Nelson is maybe the most important American artist of the last century. It's a shame he doesn't rank higher on the site. It's probably because it's more his overall corpus which so impresses rather than single albums. But this is one of the best, so we should get behind it! (Edited)

One of, if not the, best country album I've ever heard. The sparse instrumentation accents the story, the lyrics, and the melody and it's all gorgeous. Incredible album.

Truly brilliant concept album. Took me quite a few listens to really enjoy, but after 30+ times it still keeps growing.
