Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.0/100, a mean average of 70.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 10.2.

Not bad, not bad at all! … I can certainly listen to the album from start to finish without skipping any tracks. I was never into Kula Shaker back in the 90s but on the back of buying this album I’ll certainly be checking out some of their earlier releases now…
Kula Shaker seems to be developing a bit of a pattern around its album releases since their 2016 return with the very fine "K2.0" (and then their 2022 re-return with the very disappointing "1st Congregational Church"). In 2024, we got "Natural Magick"--legitimately one of my favorite albums of the year--featuring a very fresh sounding band who have seemingly reformed for good to release compelling new music once more. Unfortunately, "Wormslayer" is a bit of a regression to the post-2000 mean for the band, but that's not to say it's without its merit.
Though the songs aren't as strong as the last record, one thing remains consistent with this release, and it's good news: Crispian and the boys' well-worn and undisguised influences are present throughout. Amidst the traditional Indian vibe, musical references to The Beatles and The Doors ("Broke As Folk" is so shameless it wraps all the way back around from cringey to endearing) are dotted all over the place, and the floor is high when your source material's sound is so timeless. Do they always lean into that? Yes, but that's who they've always been, and expecting anything else 30 years on is irresponsible.
