This is my all time favourite album. The layers of guitar, the ingenuity of instrumental, the pain of the lyrics and the feeling of the voice are all perfect in my opinion. If you are not willing to give this album 3 or 4 listens, don't bother. You will not like it the first time, however, if you have a few hours to spend, then go right ahead and you may find one of your favourite albums of all time. I believe that the nature of genius is not supreme intelligence, being able to a nice bit of maths in your head, or spout a load of polysyllabic words that sound impressive. I believe that the nature of genius is being able to create something that people just can't understand where it came from. A bit of artwork, music, literature or something where you find yourself thinking 'Where the hell did that come from?'. This album certainly falls into this category.

Frusciante can write catchy tunes like only few other muscians can, he proved it times and times again, but this album is not about that. This album is about sound exploring, its sometimes ugly its sometimes experimental, but thats the point - only few other artists(radiohead, bjork etc.) have a courage to put out something like this knowing that most of their audience probably wont understand their intention. This album is for anybody who is fed up with predictable solutions and can appriciate thinking outside the box , even if it doesnt sound pretty or "right".
i truly believe that drugs are a passage too expand the human mind to mingle around to another plains other than the concious one. and thus, i truly believe this man achieved another level of humanity, and put all he learned of that in his music. This is a vestige of the limits of the mind mankind has achieved
This album is nothing short of elite. Frusciante’s guitar and vocals are perfectly representative of the mental state he was in during the recordings and it makes for immersive listening.
Frusciante's best album by far and one of the most underrated of all time.
