Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.3/100, a mean average of 77.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.8.

some editing would have helped with the bloat! couple of those instrumental tracks are brutal on the ears
Nice!
2004 was a great year for John Frusciante, coming up with 2 such albums (plus 2 somewhat weaker ones) in the space of a year is no small feat. This is the more challenging/experimental of the two, though I find The Will To Death slightly more enjoyable.
Very Good
What a great album. I cannot fault many bits of this album, there is even a lovely volta in the middle of five or so songs that I believe are just perfect starting with 'Song to Sing When I'm Lonely' and ending with 'Water'.
Easily the peak of his solo efforts and, retrospectively, even better than everything the Chili Peppers have issued albumwise. Still, I feel that he should have left out the two synth/noise/distortion bits "-00Ghost27" and "Failure33 Object". They don't add anything valuable and just tend to interrupt the overall flow/vibe of the album. Just my 2 cents.
Total fucking genius. Can't believe how people stare at me blank when I mention this album
You're not the only one, now! Genius...
