Top 100 Greatest Music Albums ratings
Average Rating = (n ÷ (n + m)) × av + (m ÷ (n + m)) × AVwhere:
av = trimmed mean average rating an item has currently received.
n = number of ratings an item has currently received.
m = minimum number of ratings required for an item to appear in a 'top-rated' chart (currently 10).
AV = the site mean average rating.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 4% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 88.9/100, a mean average of 89.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 89.1/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 8.6.

Underwater Moonlight at #1 is goated.
This chart has a lot of obscure picks and is eclectic to boot, which is everything I look for in a chart. Love the inclusion of Tragedy in the top 10, that's a super underrated Julia Holter album. And I also have Gallowsbird's Bark and Have One On Me in my chart, fantastic albums. I'll be sure to check some of these albums out!
This chart is very much unfamiliar territory for me. However, as I'm very open minded, I'll be checking out many of your choices.
Guter Chart, ich finde die Auswahl sehr erstaunlich. Vor allem weil viele Künstler vertreten sind die nicht in den Top 1000 sind, aber es sind gute Alben dabei.
Your description seemed almost too extravagant to where I was expecting you to say that these albums make you contemplate existence and then have The National at #1 or something. Luckily, no, this chart is fantastic.
A ton of stuff I need to check out now, but we share enough tastes that I'm confident digging through this one.
fantastic chart.
Very few in common with my chart, but I feel a good spirit in this chart: Adventurous but not pretentious.
(meaning a good mix of stars and outsiders) and lot´s of cool albums.
So similar, so different...
My two favourite recordings of Ravel's pavane are by Myra Hess and Walter Gieseking. You might wanna check them out if you haven't already.
Electic, diverse I am enthralled by your taste. Would love to see more notes in the vein of Down Colorful Hill for a perfect score.
An interesting chart. Enjoyable read. Good for the contributor liking music that’s a bit left field. I’ve heard most albums on the chart and genuinely don’t like some of the them. That’s life. However there are enough I do like for a good rating. No one is right and no one is wrong. It’s all about personal taste and enjoying when the stylus hits the vinyl. If others like more popular records...so what ? Life’s too short. I’m glad you love music as much as I do.
