I always regarded The Lemon Twigs as a dangerous artistic endeavour. Sounding so close to the late 60's early 70's, I considered, ran the risk of falling into pastiche territory.
Yet, album after album they have proved to be far more talented as musicians and songwriters than I had expected.
This is not imitation. It's just what they sound like and they do it really well.
I feel really lucky to have found them and wish they had been around when I was a teenager, because I know I would have become obssessed with them.
This record is not their strongest IMO, I found the last one to be more emotionally resonant. Yet the gap is not enough for me to avoid playing this on repeat. (Edited)
