Coming for a second bite of the cherry on this album as I have just purchased the long awaited vinyl re-issue. For anyone deliberating, get in quick before they are all gone, quality of recording and packaging is excellent. A classic top notch progressive album which writhes and twists like a viper on scorched earth. Refugees is still a personal favourite. And the last section of White Hammer is so dark and cold and heavy, like an abyss, it could consume you.
At times very light and at other times incredibly dark and almost frightening. At all times progressive. Superb! I have got hold of a good quality vinyl and it sounds far better than the CD.
Not their best, but still a very good album. Van Ser Graaf generator are a vastly underrated and oddly overlooked group in the prog rock genre.
A great collection of songs. Less daring than their previous records, the material is presented in a more straight forward manner. One of the great prog bands of all times. If you are not familiar with this group and like music that challenges you, give this group a listen.
Another great VdGG album, where they limit their more experimental egdge and stick to 6 great songs. Particularly like Refugees and After the Flood. Opener Darkness has a really nice atmosphere.
