Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.8/100, a mean average of 71.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.3.

Much has been made of the krautrock influence on display here, however more obvious is the debt owed to 80s indie legends Felt, particularly the Forever Breathes The Lonely Word era and Lawrence’s obsession with the most perfectionist perfect pop imaginable. The bands strengths become more apparent when they lock into a groove as seen on Drifting Deeper or Kopter as they show off the kind of strobe-lit bliss rock not seen since Syd Barrett’s Pink Floyd.
Not an album that I thought I would like... but have been pleasantly surprised by the swirling psychedelic goodness! Well worth a listen!

Nope, they don't sound like Joe Lean & the Jing Jang Jong - they were pretty terrible. If you're a fan of The Horrors or S.C.U.M you might like 'em! Btw it's currently Rough Trade's album of the month.
Does it sound anything like Joe Lean & The Jing Jang Jong? Because I wished really hard one day that they would go away and it came true. Seems I didn't word it correctely and some of them have came back. Please don't say they are Joe Lean & The Jing Jang Jong 2!

Excellent debut and one of the best lps to be released this year.
