Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 79.7/100, a mean average of 79.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 80.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.1.

I accidentally discovered this album, and it was the blues sound that caught my ear. Great guitar and fast-paced songs. Definitely one of those overlooked albums considering it is a true classic. Every song is a keeper, but my favorites are “Day Of The Eagle” and “Bridge Of Signs”.

Great album. It seems to me that Bridge of Sighs is way better than his other work. If you like hard rock from the 70s, you need to hear this.

My number one album of 1974, this is the epitome of all that soulful blues rock can be. A genuine classic that deserves to stand alongside the greatest albums in the golden era of rock.

A must have album for anyone interested in great music. Robin Trower was the guitarist for Procol Harum before going solo. As a solo artist this was the high point of his career output. Growing up in the 70's and 80's the title track or Too Rolling Stoned were FM radio staples.

The ranking hurts me so bad, this is one of the albums that every music collector should have in his collection. A must-hear 70's.

If you were a college student in 1974, and were at a Friday night party where everyone was smoking pot, the two albums playing on the stereo were "Dark Side of the Moon" and "Bridge of Sighs".
