Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.2/100, a mean average of 69.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.2.

Randomly picked this up on vinyl and it's great. I had Rod written off as one good album after the Faces, Every Picture Tells a Story which is great as well but I think this is better. I always knew the song "Sailing" but was surprised to find that's not even the best song on here. Love the difference between the 2 sides, starts good and ends good. Favourite song: It's Not The Spotlight, Three Time Loser

One of the better Rod Stewart albums Side 1 was the Fast side and Side 2 the slow. Side 2 being regarded as the better with all 5 songs 85/100 or better. As it was 3 of these songs were big hit singles. That aside the other 5 tracks are also good especially 3Time Looser and Stone cold Sober.
