Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.7/100, a mean average of 70.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.4.

I was born in late-'98 so when I listened to this I wasn't blinded by nostalgia or even dislike of post-grunge, having not grown up as a teenager or young adult when Bush and other grunge, post-grunge and alt-rock bands were at their peak popularity. This is a pretty good album overall. Nothing exceptional about it, and it's clearly derivative of the Seattle grunge bands such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam, except with a more radio-friendly sound typical of post-grunge acts. But for what it is, I enjoyed listening to it. The singles "Everything Zen", "Glycerine", "Comedown" and "Machinehead" are the standouts tracks, but songs like "Bomb", "Monkey" and "Body are also quite solid. It's absolutely a product of it's time, but I definitely enjoyed listening to it.
If you enjoy mid-90s post-grunge before Matchbox 20 and Creed changed the sound of post-grunge to essentially direct, grunge-flavoured hard pop, you'll enjoy this.

Bush might be unoriginal, but they have a couple really good songs. Razorblade Suitcase is also pretty good.
This is one of my favourite album to get angry with. All the songs are loud and visceral. That is until glycerine which is the exhaustion resulting from sustaining the anger for so long. Everything Zen and Monkey are personal favourites. This was a great band until.....damn you Stefani!

Sixteen Stone, sixteen degrees of awesomeness. As far as debut albums go this is one of the best. Sadly Bush would never came within a Bulls Roar of repeating Sixteen Stone ( though Swallowed is pretty awesome) . I’ve had a long love affair with this album and often play it to this day . All killer and no filler bar Testosterone which is easily the albums only weak link. This Album has amazing space, meaning it’s best listened to on a HIFI or car stereo, listening on head phones doesn’t do the album justice. I am proud to say Sixteen Stone sits comfortably in my top dozen favourite albums of all time .
While the 5 singles are obviously the highlights, the non-singles are hardly what I'd call "filler". I especially like "Body".
Bush's Sixteen Stone had a ridiculous amount of singles in the 90's and were all over the radio with;
Comedown, Machine Head, Glycerine, Everything Zen, Little Things.
These songs are very good and simple grunge/alternative rock songs.
This band isn't making complicated music and their lead singer has about a 3 note window he can hit vocally.
For these reasons it can't be considered a 5 star album.
This had a huge impact on 90's culture and Bush was one of the top grunge bands so for popularity and cultural effect this gets 90/100
Musically though it isn't all that impressive. But hits are hits.
Bush does this album four more times. None of them reach the heights or popularity of the debut

I won't let the nostalgia grow on me this time. This is good, but not remarkable, if you want some bland alt. rock you can surely come here. TBH, i liked this when younger
A lot of good stuff on here but too much filler to make it a really great album.

One of my favorite albums of all time.

We love albums for two reasons: They either did it first or did it best.
This was no where near first in post-grunge, but it's among the best.
