Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 68.7/100, a mean average of 68.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 68.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.0.

This album isn't terrible by any stretch and has some bright moments lead by 'Swallowed' . I agree with a previous post noting Bush' musical shortcomings , just check out any Bush Live performance and you will understand.

It isn't a secret or a surprise that Bush is limited musically.

Their follow up to the immensely popular Sixteen Stone has less huge hit singles and more filler.

Mouth, Cold Contagious, and Swallowed are top notch Grunge/Alt Songs.

The rest of this is merely passable if you love the genre. If you don't love the genre, all of this is below average musicianship and skippable.

I was a pretty big Bush fan growing up but I'm wiser now and recognize their place in music is not all that high.

This is their worst album and other than the debut, all are average or below average

This album didn't deserve the flack it got from critics. This was probably the last grunge album that I really enjoyed listening to. "Swallowed", "Cold Contagious", "Mouth" (this version, not that stupid radio-friendly pop remix on Deconstructed), and "Distant Voices" are solid grunge songs.

Very good post-grunge/alternative rock album. Best 10 songs average is 89,8/100 and the album can get very good 90/100. Best songs are "Greedy fly" and "Swallowed" both 95/100, followed by "Cold contagious" and "Distant voices" both 90/100. All other songs good 80-85/100, except "Insect kin" and "Communicator" both average 75/100. Favourite!

'Great' is not a term I apply to this album. 'OK', 'alright', and 'meh' will do.

I think I actually like this better than Sixteen Stone. It's got about the same number of stand out tracks, but I think the sound and atmosphere is more interesting here.

This is a really dark and intense album but it's a great one. It doesn't have many of the big choruses or obvious singles Sixteen Stone did but what it does have is this great oppressive mood.

This is not a "Wall of Sound" production album but this is the vibe it gives off, without the pretentiousness. A highly immersive experience. Such a shame the texts and themes are so glum, if I did not feel like opening my veins every time I finished listening to that album it might listened to it more often.
