Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 5% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.0/100, a mean average of 75.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.0.

I'm shocked that this is only ranked 49th of 1998.

It's top 10 in my opinion.

Needed to listen to this sooner. This album in my opinion might be the best trip hop ever released. Mixes stuff like psychedelia as well as bluegrass and lounge? Bruh...

Skye has such a distinctive voice - this is a lovely listen with some tracks of real quality, particularly the first three tracks, with 4 and 5 not too far behind.

This pleasing chill-electronica mix appears sadly underrated here. While there are plenty of superb tracks, "The Sea" and "Fear and Love" to name a couple, this is best enjoyed by playing start to finish. That said, this eclipses anything else in Morcheeba's catalog by a good margain.
