Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 6% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.6/100, a mean average of 74.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.9.

Great album by The Style Council highlighted by smooth, groovy, sophisticated pop. Most of the album sounds very refined and polished.

Paul Weller dice addio al Punk: a dominare qui è il pop frizzante misto al jazz o talvolta al rap, crudo, essenziale come non sempre a questo genere di musica riesce di essere, parente del Joe Jackson del periodo...

After having one of the most productive years of his song writing career, releasing a ton of classic songs willy-nilly as non-album singles, b-sides and eps, Weller suffered extreme writers block. The resulting album, Cafe Blue, was scraped together from jam sessions and pointless re-recorded versions of songs he's already released.
If only he's saved up all of those songs, what an album it would have been ...
I've compiled a list of all my favourite tracks that could have made it onto Cafe blue, if you're new to the style council I urge you to seek them out.
