Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 11% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.8/100, a mean average of 73.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.0.

The Style Council's best album for me. Weller showing what they could've been had he not been so determined to wind up Jam fans and Jam fans weren't so disparaging cos TSC weren't The Jam

Their strongest set for me. overtly political, great well played tunes, powerful subjects.

Not bad at all, and no worse than, the gift, and, walls come tumbling down, is one of Paul Weller's greatest songs outside The Jam, maybe including the Jam too.

what's that? strange record...
does it fit in any genre? it has 80s easy listening songs close to rick astley, but also simply red popsoul and duran duran strange e-pop styles...
seems meaningless to me.

One of the few albums of the '80s that still don't sound ridicolous. Some of the best songs ever wrote by Paul Weller and a jazzy feeling that is absolutely fresh and enjoyable, even after 25 years.
