This is a really fascinating album! Though I didn't care much for Chances Coloring Book, this one is somewhat less pop-oriented, but more importantly its a lot more free-form and experimental. Songs are strucutred in very unique ways for hip-hop albums, and there are even entirely non hip-hop parts, such as jazz interludes and other pieces that approach ambient. It makes this album a really wonderful tapestry and one of those albums that must be digested as a whole, not in chunks, in order to fully appreciate it.
A nice little jazz rap album.
Favorite Track: Slip Slide
Cool sonics, characterful raps, and a collaborative effort of very different artists who seem to know well what they are doing. Not every song is great, but it still makes for an entertaining listen as a whole. This one might be a top 10 record of 2015.

I have no idea what's up with the whole jazz/hiphop/funk mix rappers have been doing recently. First it was Kendrick Lamar with TPAB, then Snoop Dogg with BUSH, and now we have Chance the Rapper joining up with Donnie Trumpet to make Surf. I'm not complaining, I like all three albums.
