Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 5% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.0/100, a mean average of 75.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.8.

I didn't expect to like Wolf Alice that much when I first heard them, but damn, they blew my mind. It's not easy to label this one, it's indie-rock with a hint of grunge and "nineties-ness". What really got me into them, was the combination of rough guitars and the amazing, soothing voice of Ellie Rowsell. Your Loves Whore or Silk for example, that both got an amazing closing part, are pure magic. MLIC as a whole is exciting and playful. I love it.

Just one thing: Bros is nice, but I'll never get over the fact, that they kicked out the original EP-version. That one is heaven.

They have that dirty early 90s sound, with elements of lots of different (sub)genres. It's very consistent and enjoyable album, great songs and flow. It's a shame I haven't discovered them earlier.

Although a bit rough around the edges, Wolf Alice have definitely found a successful formula. The vocals and instrumentals vary; at times they're soft and sweet (Turn to Dust, Bros, Swallowtail), at others they're harsh and intense (You're a Germ, Giant Peach). At all times, Wolf Alice keep the music catchy and punchy. Some songs could be more fleshed out, but as a whole they're still very good. It's a great album, but I'd say its just short of brilliant. Wolf Alice have found their unique sound, and they're very close to achieving something truly amazing. In the meantime, this album will suffice as a very solid work.

it's a roller coaster. it has you chilling watching the sun rise walking your dogs thinking... *turn to dust + bros* then it takes you to teenage energy paradise jumping around your room shouting *you're a gem*
not boring at all

Very impressive debut. This band will go far if they keep cutting discs of this quality. Amazing variety of sounds for a freshmen album.

Interesting and refreshing sound. Some good soft songs and other melodic and very catchy tracks. Few songs could a bit less pop to be in concordance with the rest of the album.

Favorite tracks: Bros, Silk, Swallowtail
Less favorite tracks: You're A Germ, Freazy

Only heard this for the first time a few days ago, already becoming one of my favorites from this year. While it certainly is often times steeped in 90's alt rock, it still steps out of those boundaries enough that it sounds fresh and new. I'm extremely excited to see where this band goes in the future. The huge sound of songs like "Your Loves Whore" is something I've been missing for a while.

This is an excellent debut from Wolf Alice. Bears similarities to Sonic Youth and other early 90s bands. They have a lot of potential and they could really become one of the greats if they want to.
Best tracks: Giant Peach, Bros, Fluffy, Moaning Lisa Smile (US Release Only)
Worst track: Freazy
Edit: Also they were just nominated for the Mercury Prize. If that's not something to be proud of after just making your firs album I don't know what is.
