Very much a case of what could have been for these guys. After releasing 3 solid if unsuccessful albums The Maccabees finally give us the Magnus Opus they always threatened and then seemingly set for the breakthrough they so richly deserved only to break up a few months after this albums release
‘Marks To Prove It’ captures the band with a sound closer to their live performances and in parts out Killers the Killers with smart sophisticated anthemic guitar rock
I can’t close without mentioning track 4 “Spit It Out” - what a song !!! . Something very special here and a clear highlight on a wonderful swan song album
