I've been obsessed with this for the past couple of years, and the filmed version finally gave me the chance to see it play onstage. It didn't disappoint.

It's not in a different ballpark than other great musicals... but it is a truly great musical. Lin Manuel Miranda has some serious song-writing talent. The cast is exceptional, and while this isn't the first musical with a hip-hop foundation, it deserves the spotlight it has received.

Everyone's always like "ooh, founding fathers rapping LOL" but I honestly don't see it that way, this is just a natural progression of Broadway musicals, instead of everything being sung through, it's just said with a rhythm that keeps you involved. Of course there's that AND an abundance of just amazing songs, best musical to date, easily.
A game changer for Broadway musicals.

One of the rare soundtracks that functions independently of its original production. An epic like nothing else, the soundtrack for Hamilton alone is a classic work, and a generation-defining achievement on par with To Pimp a Butterfly or My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
