As you can probably tell from looking at my 2010s chart as a whole, I'm a huge fan of the gypsy folk stylings of Elephant Revival. This eight-song EP (or is it an LP?) contains some of their most Bohemian recordings to date, featuring Bonnie Paine's avian vocals and percussion on the washboard, as well as some of Bridget Law's finest and most evocative work on the violin. If I had to choose a favorite track, I think it would be "What's That?" although I'll be the first to acknowledge that I have no idea what it's about, thanks to its decidedly impressionistic lyrics. Given the song's title, though, maybe I shouldn't be surprised.
