Back in the 80s Night Ranger were one of my favorite "new" AOR groups. They leaned towards Pop-Metal at the time. My rating would have been much higher back then, but hindsight shows they were an average group at best.

Right there with the most vacuous hair metal the 80s puked out.
There are good songs on almost every Night Ranger album and plenty of filler as well. The guitar work is good and the more rocking songs are catchy. Not a huge fan of most of their ballads though.

Brad Gillis is a fine guitar player. Their early eighties stuff is worth checking out. They are at their best when Gillis plays loud, mean riffs. Their ballads are mostly mediocre.
