The most popular food is the blandest: mac and cheese, spaghetti with red sauce, ramen, peanut butter and jelly, cheerios, etc. It's simple, easy, accessible, and a foundation for everyone - yet it's hard to go back to once you've developed your taste buds. The same goes with music. Led Zeppelin are a fairly basic hard rock group with average musicianship and average songwriting (e.g. lots of their stuff was blues ripoffs) but they don't really step on any toes and sound pretty good in the background. Extra points for the nostalgia factor, since this band was crammed down my throat as a kid.

Plagiarists who developed their own sound that took rock and roll by storm, and then they forged their own songwriting path as well. Titans of hard rock and justifiably so. Plant and Page get all the press, but Zep is Zep largely because of the stunningly powerful, original, and tight rhythm section of John Bonham on drums and the criminally underrated John Paul Jones on bass.

I'm not really a huge fan of hard rock/heavy metal as such. However, Led Zep were much more than just hard rock. So much light and shade in their output, they rose above the genre they were identified with. A fantastic band. Much missed.

From Smith
Over a long period of time Zeppelin have become my favourite rock band. They are the only artist, that i have all their albums. I still think Presence is very undrated album.

The first six albums are classics. Presence lacks focus and meanders along (like Oasis's Be Here Now). In Through The Out Door I find too repetitive. Coda adds nothing. My third favourite artist.

Excellent band. One of my all-time favorites, and one of the few I know pretty much every song they released. One of the few that never released a bad song - only songs that were weaker than others.

Ever since I first began listening to them, Zeppelin slowly climbed up most of my favorites and now they're my second favorite band behind Sonic Youth, Throughout their career, Led Zeppelin had managed to continuously reinvent and push their sound forward with somehow maintaining consistency the whole way through. Every member of Led Zeppelin played an extremely important role in their own area that they had fully mastered before the band even existed, It's a miracle that they all ended up together in the same band, not all of them are the greatest in their own area, but they all knew how to play together, which is the most important aspect of Led Zeppelin. They truly were the best form of what a Rock 'n' Roll band should be.

Some of the greatest instrumentalists of all time. Particularly love Bonham's style. A lot of great songs and a few pretty flawless albums but I feel like the song writing isn't always at its best particularly in their later stuff which I'm finding harder to get into in comparison to Led Zep 2 and 4
